In regard to coal dust from the Oak Creek power plant:
I always regarded the coal dust to be more of a nuisance than a health hazard. I worked in the plant for more than 32 years. The plant had to be kept clean to prevent fires.
During my tenure in the 1970s, I did miss five days of work. This was caused by flu-like symptoms. Otherwise, I was lucky enough to have a perfect attendance.
Come July 1st, I will be retired 30 years. Therefore, I believe I didn't have my health problems from exposure to coal dust.
I am not forgetting the miners with the black lung disease they were exposed to. I'm sure they were exposed to greater amounts and less fresh air.

I'm certainly happy that you have avoided any medical issues associated with coal, but many others have not been so lucky. There's a neighborhood east of the Pleasant Prairie plant which has experienced an unusual number of cancer incidences. Additionally, the pollutants have caused damage to automobile finishes.
