I am writing to wholeheartedly endorse Rebecca Mason in her re-election campaign for Municipal Judge. Rebecca is intelligent, fair and experienced. Our community is incredibly lucky to have her.
Rebecca is the first woman to serve as Municipal Judge for the City of Racine. As a young woman in elected office, I understand Rebecca’s role in our community to be very important. It’s often difficult for women to imagine themselves in leadership positions when they don’t have examples of women that came before them. I was recently speaking to a Racine teacher who took her students to Rebecca’s courtroom. This teacher said that a number of her female students left the courtroom saying that they wanted to be a judge, and that before this field trip, it was clear they had never been able to picture themselves in such a role.
Rebecca is part of this community and she cares for it deeply. She visits the schools and talks with students about how to make the most of the opportunities in front of them. She does everything in her power to support the young people who come before her with truancy issues to get back on track. Rebecca is the sort of judge any parent would hope their child could sit before in such a pivotal moment. I am confident Rebecca will continue to serve our community with clarity of purpose, dignity and compassion. I hope you will join me in voting for her on April 3.
