At a recent cookout/social gathering at the home of a retiree, the City of Burlington Volunteer Fire Department retirees and active members conducted a 50/50 raffle of those in attendance at the event.

After the membership sold tickets for about one hour, the 50/50 drawing was held. When the donations were added up, an active member won half of the $316. The other half of the drawing, $158, was decided to be donated to the Racine Fire Bells. Those in attendance felt that donating to the Racine Fire Bells would be a good place t donate the other half of the drawing.

The donated money to the Racine Fire Bells was delivered to a representative of the Racine Fire Bells Monday, Aug. 28.

The retirees and active members of the City of Burlington Volunteer Fire Department would also like to thank the membership of the Racine Fire Bells for responding with their manpower, their van and other equipment to the west end of Racine County at any major fire scene.
