Hurricane Harvey aftermath creates unity
As we all know, our country has been stressed for many months. North Korea has threatened to use weapons of mass destruction, which I’m certain could become reality at any time.
The division of all races has been catapulted to new heights. Our entire country feels this as it is happening in our own backyards. Safety from ISIS and other terrorists seems almost impossible to achieve. Then, along comes Hurricane Harvey.
Nature has a way of fooling us. We watched and followed the development and think we are prepared. We were not!
No one could comprehend the devastation and heartache that is being seen each day. My eyes are red and swollen from crying and I see the fear and agony on the many faces, children to the elderly.
This storm didn’t pick and choose the people by race, denomination, political affiliation or other things that seem to be keeping us separated. Wait, I see a glimmer of hope. Neighbor helping neighbor, strangers with vehicles and boats successful at rescue. All branches of military doing what they do best, serving and protecting all of us.
Much more to do in the months and years ahead. We must support this effort in any way necessary. Let’s remember, after all, we live in the United States of America.
