I read the commentary from Alderman Shakoor that appeared in Monday's Journal Times. He spoke about wanting to ask Speaker Ryan at the latest CNN held town hall about federal investment in Racine in regards to infrastructure.
Why don't the alderman and/or city take care of what they have control over? For example, I have been asking that my sidewalks in front of my home be replaced. They are uneven and very unsafe. I myself have fallen twice. Ice builds up in winter months, etc.
People use my sidewalk to get to the bike path that runs behind my home. I have seen them fall as well.
I have emailed Commissioner Yehlen and my alderman numerous times and have been ignored and or promised that the sidewalks would be replaced. This has been going on for two years and nothing has been fixed.
So before Alderman Shakoor looks to others to fix Racine’s issues, maybe the alderman and the city should fix what I and other taxpayers have already paid for — our services.
