“Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now …” This is a line from the Broadway musical "Hamilton." It’s hard to live by these words right now, with the storms that devastate us, news that scares us and opinions that divide us. If we don't “look around,” we risk becoming cynical, contentious or maybe even worse — discouraged and burned out.
We cannot let that happen. We need hope and faith that we are, indeed “lucky” in this time and in this place. It is autumn and harvest time in Wisconsin. We need to look around at the abundance and the beauty here in this home that is ours.
And we have Cory Mason running for mayor of our city. If we “look around,” we will see that Mason is an honest, knowledgeable, experienced and hardworking candidate and he is also a kind, courteous and sincere person. Isn’t that the kind of person that we always say we want in public office? His values and his integrity make him the best possible choice in this election on Oct. 17.
This local election may likely have more impact on our day to day lives than many national ones. Yes, how lucky we are to be alive right now, and to have this chance to choose this man as our mayor! Vote for hope, for vision, for all of us — vote for Cory Mason.
