It's the most wonderful time of the year.

As Christmas approaches, I like to reflect on the true meaning of the day-as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. How can anyone doubt the existence of our Lord since we have historically recognized the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. We have so many ways to enjoy this special time. The Racine Symphony Orchestra does a marvelous job with Christmas carols this year from Washington Park, Prairie and Union Grove High schools. Carthage College has a magnificent concert and it is always a full house listening to beautiful Christmas music. Handel's Messiah was a great production at UW-Parkside under the direction of Professor Kinchen.

It is also a season to be unreasonably generous and give to worthwhile charities like the Hospitality Center and the Salvation Army. So my wish is that every family will be able to enjoy a day where they can remember why this day is so special.
