Why haven't legislators taken action after hundreds of assault rifle massacres? Because they have sold out to the NRA. They take cash to follow the gun lobby agenda.
The post slaughter NRA talking points: Let's have thoughts and prayers; this is not a political issue; wait until the facts are in; it is the crazy sickos who do this. The pervasive fact is that assault rifles are always used in the rapid fire killings. Always.
Justice Antonin Scalia in a 2008 Supreme Court ruling that there are indeed "important limitations on the right to keep and carry arms." For example, there is no right to carry "dangerous and unusual weapons." The Fourth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals cited that decision, District of Columbia vs. Heller, in ruling on Feb. 22 that a legislative ban on these sorts of weapons of wars is indeed Constitutional.
But Republicans are lackeys willing to make the ludicrous NRA argument that carrying weapons is an absolute right. They strive to earn good marks from the NRA like second graders getting stickers. They are literally being bribed and which makes them willing to defy the will of the people who have been begging for reasonable regulations.
This is not complicated. Weapons of war must be permanently banned. But the only way for that to happen is to vote all of these invertebrates out of office as soon as possible, replacing them with honorable people who will serve the people.
