Dear Reader,

The Journal Times is making some changes.

We’re beefing up our local reporting, with new reporters recently hired, some new scheduling strategies and more local news on our front page. We’re also moving our Food section from Monday to Friday and spreading the stories from our Friday Home & Garden section to other feature sections throughout the week. On Monday and Saturday, you’ll find some sections inside the front or sports sections — they’re not missing, they’re inside!

The Journal Times is committed to providing you with accurate and full coverage of Racine County. I promise you we are working hard to put out one of the finest newspapers in the region. We’ve won several top journalism awards in recent years and we’ll continue to do so.

Thanks for reading.

Sincerely,

Rob Golub

To the people who believe that the corporations are "job creators" and we should let them run the country:

Tens of millions of jobs have been shipped overseas, with the fastest pace during the Bush Era.

The banks received TRILLIONS of dollars in bailout money yet everyone was complaining about the 787 billion which was a drop in the bucket, and most of us didn't benefit from that at all, but the CEOs of major companies were able to take TARP money home in bonuses for destroying their companies. Must be nice.

"Too big to fail" still exists and will continue to until the Glass-Steagall Act is reenacted. Glass-Steagall made it illegal for commercial banks to merge with security firms, which gave way to riskier business practices, for the sake of short term gain, but at the expense of the taxpayers since we are the ones who get the bill when they gamble our money away. So if you think further deregulation and "free market" rhetoric is the answer, think again. "Free" should not mean free to gamble with bank depositor money!!

Now, the top 1% of the richest people in this country (400) take home over 200 billion in 'what would be' tax revenue, that was enacted by the Bush Administration, and continued by the Obama Administration. This money could be used for infrastructure jobs such as roads, railroads, bridges, and even bailout or lend money to community banks which will help small business, which create over 70% of the jobs in America. And when I say "small businesses," I'm not talking about business that employ thousands of people; that is not a 'true' small business.

You want to keep believing that President Obama is a 'socialist,' you're falling for the plan. He is doing everything to help Wall Street and multi-national corporations which expand every time we go to war with another country. Bush did the same thing only he borrowed money from China to give his rich buddies tax cuts, and he "rammed" in through Congress worse than Obama did with ObamaCare.

Don't let your prejudices and ego blind you from the truth because they are winning and will continue to until we find real, national solidarity, and stop fighting over ideological differences. We are moving fast toward a corpora-fascist state and it will move "full steam ahead" until he truly put the country first, and respect each other as Americans EQUALLY. Until then, the U.S. decline will continue, and it will be our own faults. www.firebrandcentral.com

Obama is not a socialist in the slightest; he is a CORPORATIST which is even worse, please get it right. FOX News has been pushing this "socialist" label for too long and it's not even remotely true. You don't have to believe me, do further research and you'll see that there is overwhelming evidence that supports my claim. Don't go to the right-wing media only, because they have an agenda just as much, if not more, than the so-called "liberal media." Check out who Obama has in his administration (Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner from the New York Fed, he hired William Daley to be his Chief-of-Staff to replace Rahm Emanuel originally, he was from JP Morgan Chase, among many other banksters). Goldman Sachs was Obama's # 2 campaign donor in the 2008 presidential election; they got a bailout through AIG. Hmmm. We all need to make up and stop buying into the propaganda, and it's not just from the government; it is from corporate-controlled media as well, and FOX News is definitely corporate-agenda
journalism, as one example, CNN reporting is another. Notice that FOX News almost NEVER attacks Tim Geithner, and he's the one who didn't want Elizabeth Warren to be the head of the new, Federal Consumer Protections Bureau, along with President Obama. The corporate media is feeding human prejudices and affirming to distract you from the real problems. Don't take my word for it, the evidence is there... www.firebrandcentral.com

The JT has lost credibility in it's reporting of local news and issues over the last two years. Many local stories have not been covered in the JT, but are picked up by other local media outlets.
    .
Other times the reporting is not balanced. When the Racine city tax mill rate increased 12.9% for 2012, this was the JT story headline: "Some city tax bills up, others down - but fees up for all"

    .
This story did not even offer for comparison what the 2011 city mill rate was in Racine. The JT did similiar stories for all the other municipalities and provided both 2011 and 2012 rates for comparison for every other municipality but Sturtevant, their new rate was unavailable.
    .
People I bet stop reading the editorial page with it's constant push for KRM or even the last few weeks push to return more state money to Racine. No discussion of the fact that Racine city spending actually went up in 2012, even after all this talk of budget cuts.

When the JT becomes a community newspaper, the cows will be coming home. They have no use in community news that isn't canned by someone else, maybe if it is written by the Journal Sentinel. But the JT has ignored local news for so long it has no idea what is important to the people who live here. That is why I dropped my subscription. Rob talks a good game, but he isn't willing to make Racine a priority. Talk is cheap!!!!!!!!!!

I also am not happy with the look of the e-edition. When I put in my sign-in I want the same page/screen that I left to come back up. It is confusing to try to find the articles page by page that I am looking for. I agree that it is not very user friendly

Rob - I've known you since you were a beat reporter, and while I believe that you intend to make some good changes to the paper, the real changes need to start with the paper itself.

A lot of residents know that the JT favors the current Mayoral administration too much. If you truly want to prove to us that the JT will have "accurate and full coverage of Racine County" then you need to stop letting City Hall influence and edit stories to favor them.

JT heads up. Anyone see headlines of the homeless lately? Did Obama heal them while receding the oceans? Remember all the front page stories when Bush was up for re-election? It was like a drum beat over and over again. And unemployment of 5% was the worst thing ever. Under the media anointed Obama, 8% is the norm, get used to it. Anyone see a pattern here? Bet we see a doubling down on Obama/2012, not journalism here.

This is all just a bump in the road to Obama's Socialist/Communist Utopia.

No mention of hiring a few token Conservatives, What was I thinking, I was actually hoping that's what I would read here. JT is still just a bunch of (D)/union/Progressives with an Obama propagandist, by line..

Did I miss the front page splash declaring the 2,000th death count of US soldiers killed in Obama's "good war", in Afghanistan? There was a countdown as I remember under Bush. Under Obama, the death rate went up 500%, Maybe write that 575 deaths in Bush's 8 years VS 1,425 under your Obama and ask if it could be because of Obama's passivist "rules of engagement". But ELECTION YEAR, NOTHING TO SEE HERE _ MOVE ON! Good fuel for my fire pit if I was a subscriber.

Recently I paid for your e-edition and find this to be NOT SENIOR FRIENDLY. When I go to read the morning paper I need to first get out my magnifying glass. On the other hand, this format is perfect as if need be I can increase the type size; doesn't work on the other.
