WATERFORD — The Waterford Waterway Management District has received a grant to help pay for a Fox River dredging permit.

The Southeastern Wisconsin Fox River Commission presented a check on Sept. 16 for $80,880, completing a grant worth $155,628 for the dredging permit.

The district initiated the permit application in 2009 and received the permit from the state Department of Natural Resources in July. Officials want to dredge the river and connected waterways between the Iron Bridge in Tichigan and the Waterford dam, located near the Village Hall.

Final approval from the roughly 1,000 property owners who make up the district is still pending.
