Garage fire on 15th Avenue in Union Grove

At 11:45 a.m. Sunday, the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a garage fire at 816 15th Ave., Union Grove. The structure is a total loss, as are its contents, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

UNION GROVE — A detached two-car garage and its contents, including a car and a motorcycle, were a total loss after a fire of unknown origin broke out on Sunday.

According to a release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the Racine County Communications Center at 11:45 a.m. Sunday received a call about a fire in a detached garage at 816 15th Ave. The caller reportedly told the dispatcher they could see thick black smoke and flames coming from the structure.

A sheriff’s deputy was first to arrive on the scene; that deputy reported that the structure was fully engulfed and there was no one inside, according to the release. Members of the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department were assisted by members of the Kansasville and Raymond fire departments in putting the fire out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
