CALEDONIA — The Feb. 10 fire at a home owned by billionaire Curt Johnson’s daughter is not suspicious but there is still no known cause, Caledonia police said Monday.
Caledonia firefighters were dispatched to a home at 7238 Foley Road at about 6:27 p.m. Feb. 10. When they arrived they found a two-story home with a wraparound porch with the porch fully engulfed, and the fire was starting to spread to the second floor. After investigating the fire, Lt. Gary Larsen of the Caledonia Police Department said the origin of the fire is not considered suspicious. It started on the porch but the cause of that fire is not known, Larsen said.
At the time of the fire a child and babysitter were home along with five dogs. But everyone got out safe, without injury, according to Battalion Chief Jeff Henningfeld.
Henningfeld said originally that he knew the homeowner, Skye Johnson, was related to billionaire Curt Johnson, a son of the late SC Johnson chairman Sam Johnson. Larsen later confirmed that Skye Johnson is Curt Johnson’s daughter.
The fire was quickly put out, but caused $30,000 in damage to the house and $15,000 to contents.
Most of the fire damage was contained to the exterior, but there was water and smoke damage inside.
