RACINE - The parent company of Racine-based Vibromax America has been acquired by JCB, the largest privately owned construction equipment manufacturer in the world.

JCB bought Vibromax Compaction Equipment, based in Dusseldorf, Germany, and its Racine-based subsidiary, Vibromax

Vibromax America, originally spun off from the former Case Corp., is based at 2823 Carlisle Ave. in Fred Young Sr. Industrial Park. It was later bought and became a subsidiary of Vibromax Compaction Equipment.

Through a dealer network, the local subsidiary handles product distribution in North America. It markets a full line of compaction equipment including single and tandem drum rollers from one to 18 metric tons, trench rollers, walk-behind rollers, vibratory plates and rammers.

The local company employs about 15 people here.

The acquisition will be completed in early September, subject to regulatory approvals. The new company will be known as JCB Vibromax and will be managed as part of the JCB Group with local management retained in Germany and North America.
