RACINE COUNTY — Is there a house or property in your neighborhood that deserves to be recognized for adding beauty to the community?
If so, Greater Racine in Bloom wants to know about it.
The local beautification group is accepting nominations of such properties ahead of the arrival of judges from America in Bloom on July 18.
To nominate a property, simply fill out one of the nomination forms by listing the address of the property, the name of the owner (if you know it) and why the property is being nominated.
Forms can be picked up at D.P. Wigley, 234 Wisconsin Ave. in Racine, community centers and some local businesses.
Forms can be filled out online as well, by visiting the City of Racine’s website, www.cityofracine.org.
Paper forms can mailed or dropped off at 2050 LaSalle St., Racine, WI 53402.
To get more forms or nominate a property by phone call Alderman Melissa Kaprelian-Becker at (262) 939-8679.
The property owner or individuals who are nominated will receive a letter of recognition and thanks for their beautification efforts. They also will be invited to Greater Racine in Bloom’s celebration of the judges’ arrival for America in Bloom, on July 18, and be in the running to win a prize.
There is no limit to the number of residents or businesses that can be nominated.
The group will be accepting nomination forms through July 6.
Greater Racine in Bloom works to beautify Racine and surrounding municipalities to improve quality of life and hopefully do well in the annual America in Bloom contest, where communities compete to see who can do the most to make their area beautiful, preserved and environmentally friendly.
Racine participated in the contest for the first time last year and won a Criteria Award for overall impression.
