SOMERS — The University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 900 Wood Road, invites area residents to join the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy on Friday.

Using the theme “A Message for Every Generation,” this evening of speeches to stir the soul, music and remembrance begins at 7 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities. There is no admission fee.

During the program, two area residents who have given exemplary service to others will receive 2012 UW-Parkside Community Service Awards. A university student or student organization will be honored with the UW-Parkside Service Award. In addition, K-12 students from the Racine Unified School District and Kenosha Unified School District receive awards for their artwork and essays.
