RACINE — The second annual Spirit Run of Racine 5K Run/Walk will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Kids Cove Playground/North Beach, 40 Kewaunee St. On-site registration will begin at 8 a.m.

This is a professionally timed event. Special awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Children ages 11 and younger will each receive their own medal of accomplishment. After the race, there will be music, refreshments and door prizes.

The race will begin at the Kids Cove Playground at North Beach and travel along the bike path, behind the zoo, along Michigan Boulevard and circle back to Kids Cove Playground.

Registration costs $25, which includes a goody bag, T-shirt and door prizes. Special prices will be offered for families and teams.

Proceeds will help benefit the school of the registrant’s choice. When designating which school to participate for, that school will receive 20 percent of the registrant’s event fee. The school with the most school spirit will win prizes. Special awards and prizes will also be given to schools with the most and best school spirit during the race.
