McTeacher’s Night to benefit Jerstad-Agerholm School

RACINE — A McTeacher’s Night benefiting Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary School will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at McDonald’s, 5125 Douglas Ave.

Students, parents and school supporters are invited to participate in McTeacher’s Nights. During the events, school staff members work behind the counter at local McDonald’s restaurants to raise money for Racine Unified School District schools.

For their efforts, McDonald’s will donate a portion of all sales garnered during the program’s two-hour period to Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary School.

School choice fairs for parents of middle-schoolers set

RACINE — In preparation for the 2018-19 school year, the Racine Unified School District will hold “My School. My Choice.” fairs for parents of middle school students. Parents now have the opportunity to match their child with the school that they feel best fits them.

“My School. My Choice.” fairs will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Gilmore Middle School, 2330 Northwestern Ave.; and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Starbuck Midde School, 1516 Ohio St.

Families will the have the opportunity to meet school teachers, staff and principals, learn about unique programming and after-school activities, watch student performances and ask questions. Families interested will be able to apply for the school of their choice, including Gifford, Jerstad-Agerholm, Mitchell, Gilmore Fine Arts, Starbuck, Walden III and the REAL schools.

Horlick students to present High Renaissance Feast

RACINE — Horlick High School students will present the 41st annual High Renaissance Feast under the direction of Ellen Christensen at 6 p.m. Dec. 1-2 and 8-9, and 4 p.m. Dec. 3, at the DeKoven Center, 600 21st St.

The High Renaissance Feast is an original student-penned drama, a concert of Renaissance madrigals and orchestral music in St. John’s Chapel. It features ornate, historic costumes, a flurry of acrobatics and swordplay, the sight and sounds of piously wandering monks and a heavenly balcony choir. Attendees may want to enhance the experience by attending in costume.

Dinner in the Great Hall includes wild rice soup, a cheese plate and bread, followed by a fresh salad. Toast the queen’s health with warm wassail and dine upon suckling pig, orange glazed chicken, roast beef, parsley potatoes, green beans almondine, stuffing and fresh fruit. Finish the meal with dessert and coffee.

Prince of Peace to host cookie walk, holiday fair

RACINE — Prince of Peace, 4340 6 Mile Road, will hold its 7th annual Christmas cookie walk and holiday fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 2.

A variety of cookie selections will be available for $8 per pound, cash or credit. Unique gifts will be available at the holiday fair.
