RACINE — Jasperson Sod has donated two pallets of Healthy Grass Technology sod to Racine Unified School District’s three high schools.
Healthy Grass Technology is a type of sod designed to withstand a high amount of traffic. The sod donated by Jasperson has been installed in areas of the soccer field that see a lot of action and wear during the season. The hope is that Healthy Grass Technology will last longer than other sod that has been used on the field.
“There’s a need for it,” said district grounds department foreman Charlie Puder. “With us, there’s so much play on these soccer fields, and we have to do something so the sod lasts longer.”
The new patches of sod will be watched throughout the duration of the soccer season, and if it works as expected, more will be added across the fields.
“We get that this is a worthy cause,” said Jasperson Sod sales representative Roger Blair. “This is a place where the attributes of Healthy Grass Technology could be well put to use and solve a problem they’re faced with at these soccer fields.”
