RACINE — A celebration honoring Ken Fick’s 33 years of teaching at Trinity Lutheran School and 38 total years in the classroom was held at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 2.
A native of Cedarburg, Fick graduated from Concordia High School in Milwaukee and received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Nebraska in 1974. He majored in speech/drama and minored in physical education and sociology while playing football for Concordia High School and serving as public relations representative for the football team.
After teaching for five years at St. John’s in Ionia, Mich., he accepted a call to serve at Trinity Lutheran School in 1979. During his 33 years at Trinity Lutheran School, Fick taught English and communications skills to hundreds of middle school students. He has also served as athletic director and coached football, softball, basketball and track. Fick developed and coordinated Trinity Lutheran School’s participation in the Optimist Oratorical Contest for 28 years and co-directed musicals and Christmas programs at Trinity Lutheran School.
Fick is married to Becky Troester, who is the fourth-grade teacher and director of music at Trinity Lutheran School. They have three children and three granddaughters.
