KENOSHA — The Kenosha Music Teachers’ Association announced the winners of the 45th Margaret Schmidt Memorial Chopin Competition.
Maya Frodl, a student at Case High School, won second place in the Senior Division. She is a student of Terri Seitz.
The biennial competition, open to students of both the Kenosha and Racine Music Teachers’ Associations, was held at Carthage College on Jan. 20. There were two divisions of competitors. The Junior Division consisted of students in seventh through ninth grades and the Senior Division consisted of students in 10th through 12th grades. The Junior Division had 14 competitors and the Senior Division had 17 competitors.
All winners and honorable mentions were invited to perform in a Winner’s Recital at Missio Dei Fellowship in Kenosha on Jan. 28.
First-place winners received a $100 cash prize, second-place winners $50 and third-place winners $35 which were donated by Kenosha area businesses.
