MOUNT PLEASANT — Case High School will host the annual Berit Beck Music Memorial scholarship concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the Auditorium at Case High School, 7345 Washington Ave.

A scholarship will be awarded to a Case High School senior demonstrating excellence in musical performance and financial need. Ensembles from the band and choral departments also will perform. The concert helps fund the scholarship through offerings and concession sales. Judging takes place during the event and the winner(s) will be announced at the end of the concert.

The scholarship was named after Sturtevant native Berit Beck who was abducted and murdered in rural Fond du Lac county in 1990 shortly after her graduation. Her friends, classmates and teachers organized fundraisers and concerts in her memory. Beck, who was planning on majoring in music, played violin in the Case High School orchestra, sang in the Concert Chorale, accompanied many school and church groups and was involved in numerous outside musical activities.

The public is invited to join the Berit Beck Benefit. To make a tax deductible donation to this scholarship fund, send a check to: The Berit Beck Music Memorial Fund, Community State Bank, 1500 Main St., Union Grove, WI 53182.
