YORKVILLE — Racine County Sheriff’s deputies are credited with stopping three men allegedly in the act of stealing scrap metal Wednesday from Racine Metal-Fab.
According to a press release, at about 2:30 a.m. a deputy patrolling the Grandview Parkway businesses in Yorkville saw suspicious activity at Racine Metal-Fab, 1520 Grandview Parkway.
“The deputy observed a vehicle parked between the scrap metal containers with occupants in the vehicle,” said sheriff’s Lt. Shawn Barker. “The deputy made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and gave lawful orders. The vehicle and its occupants sped away.”
The vehicle was stopped in the driveway shortly afterward by another Racine County sheriff’s deputy who was also in the area. The three occupants were detained and identified.
During the stop, scrap metal was located inside the vehicle, according to Barker.
Jeremy D. Debartelo, 37, Timothy A. Debartelo, 34, and Erik M. Pelt, 34, all of Kenosha, were arrested as suspects in the alleged theft, pending charges from the Racine County district attorney. They were being held at the Racine County Jail Wednesday, according to online records.
