RACINE — Police are investigating an incident in which a vehicle was stolen and crashed, and a witness of the crash was shot at.
At 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the Racine Police Department responded to the 700 block of Belmont Avenue for a shots-fired call and car accident, according to Racine Police Sgt. Adam Malacara.
Belmont Avenue is located north of Kinzie Avenue and Calvary Cemetery and west of Chicago Street.
Officers learned a Dodge Durango had been stolen from the 2400 block of Thor Avenue. The vehicle crashed not long after, a short distance away, Malacara said.
The offenders then reportedly ran from the vehicle and fired a gun at a witness of the crash.
No one was injured or struck in the shooting or crash. The investigation is ongoing and no one had been apprehended as of Friday afternoon, Malacara said.
