Shooting on 16th Street

Police responded Wednesday evening to a report of shots fired in the area of 16th and Indiana Streets.

RACINE — Police responded at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man shot in the arm in the area of 16th and Indiana Streets. As of 5 p.m. Jojo's Quick Mart, 4303 16th St., which is located at the corner, was roped off with police tape.

Witnesses said they heard a gunshot and then saw a man with a bandage taken away in an ambulance. Splotches of blood could also be seen on the ground outside the business. 

According to Sgt. Adam Malacara, public information officer with the Racine Police Department, the suspect in the shooting was not in custody as of 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
