LAKE GENEVA — On Monday, the Lake Geneva Fire Department was notified that an individual was in the City of Lake Geneva posing as a Lake Geneva Fire Department member.
According to a news release from the department, the person was soliciting funds and leaving smoke detectors that are not Underwriters Laboratories approved, and the person is not associated with the Fire Department or City of Lake Geneva. The smoke detectors are not safe, and the Lake Geneva Fire Department does not go door-to-door soliciting funds.
Department members who go to houses or businesses are easily identifiable, the release said. They will be dressed in uniform and/or have a City of Lake Geneva identification card with them.
The Lake Geneva Fire Department does provide smoke detectors for families in need within the Lake Geneva city limits. Fire Department members can install them by appointment. For more information, call the Fire Department at 262-248-7228.
