MOUNT PLEASANT — A man is expected to make his initial court appearance on Tuesday, Dec. 5, after being arrested on suspicion of multiple sexual assaults on a child.

According to a release issued late Monday night by the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Racine County Human Services contacted the Police Department on Friday regarding an alleged sexual assault of a child complaint. Through an investigation, detectives discovered that the mother’s current boyfriend had reportedly sexually assaulted the child.

The investigation also revealed that the victim’s mother had been aware of the abuse occurring over an extended period of time. The suspect, who is from Mount Pleasant but police did not identify, was taken into custody and was being held without bond on a pending count of repeated acts of sexual assault of a child, police said.
