VILLAGE OF WATERFORD — The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged abduction attempt that took place Wednesday afternoon in the Village of Waterford.
A 15-year-old girl had reportedly been walking home from school shortly before 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Washington Street when a male suspect allegedly stopped his vehicle and got out to yell at the girl before grabbing her, according to a Sheriff’s Office media release.
The man had reportedly exited the vehicle, which resembled a late 1990s or early 2000s Buick Regal, and allegedly began yelling at the girl and asking if she had any friends or a boyfriend, according to the release.
After the girl reportedly told the man “no” and began walking away, he allegedly followed her and grabbed her hooded sweatshirt and pulled back toward his vehicle, according to the release.
The girl then broke away and started running back to her house, screaming, at which point the male left the area, according to the release.
The alleged victim’s father contacted police and a neighborhood check was conducted but no suspect was found. Police are investigating the incident and will have extra patrols in the area of Waterford schools during school hours.
Waterford High School and the school superintendent have been notified of the incident because the girl is a student at the high school, according to the release.
