RACINE COUNTY - In light of recent flooding, Wisconsin Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster will hold a Case Management Training Workshop Friday through Sunday, at the following locations:

- Friday and Saturday - 9 a.m.-5 p.m., American Red Cross, 4521 Taylor Ave. (parking available in back), Racine.

- Sunday - 2-6 p.m., Volunteer Center of Racine, 6216 Washington Ave., Suite G, Mount Pleasant.

Participants who complete the workshop will have a working knowledge of the impact of disasters on individuals and property; and will learn the process involved to obtain the necessary resources for individuals and families to develop and implement an effective recovery plan.

All adults are welcome. The free workshops will be taught by a certified United Methodist Committee on Relief instructor, with the involvement of the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Registration is required, send an e-mail to: dwilliams@wisconsinumc.org.

The Disaster Case Management training provided by UMCOR is used in pre-disaster settings, immediately post disaster, and as a motivational tool to recruit case managers. In a larger sense, the course teaches people how to identify and address unmet needs of all survivors, and how to provide a larger vision of life that includes emotional and spiritual care as well as physical rebuilding and long-term recovery of those in need.
