RACINE - The City is moving forward in making North Beach more accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

The Board of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services agreed Wednesday with the parks department that they should invest in a type of portable ramp to help with beach accessibility. The park department's plan is to include funding for a type of ramp in the park's capital improvement project, said 9th District Alderman Terry McCarthy.

They are looking at a type of ramp which would extend out from the oasis to closer to the water and branch out about 15 feet into a T. But specifics have not been determined yet, McCarthy said.
