BURLINGTON — What could be better than hot chocolate on a cold day?

That’s the premise behind the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce’s warm winter tradition, the Hot ChocolateFest. The third annual festival is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday, Jan. 19-21, at Echo Lake Park, 589 Milwaukee Ave. There is no admission fee.

Friday activities include an open skate, 6-9 p.m.; s’mores making by the campfire, 6:30 p.m., and campfire storytelling with the City of Burlington Fire Department, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Activities on Saturday will include: Open skate and food and beverages available, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Hot Chocolate Tasting Contest, 9 a.m.-noon (winner drawing at 12:15 p.m.); Snowman Decorating Contest, 10 a.m.-noon (winners announced at 12:30 p.m.); kindergarten-grade 2 broom ball, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; grade 3-5 broom ball, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; grade 6-8 broom ball, 1-2 p.m.; Chili Tasting Contest, 1-4 p.m. (winner drawing at 4:15 p.m.); adult broom ball, 2 p.m.; s’mores by the campfire, 6:30 p.m.; campfire storytelling by City of Burlington Fire Department, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The festivities conclude on Sunday, Jan. 21, with the Cabin Fever 5K run at 9 a.m. with registration until the day of the event. Register in advance at http:// hot-chocolatefest-2017-burlington-wi5.webnode.com. A pancake breakfast takes place from 8 to 11 a.m. at Veterans Terrace. Family sledding and activities are from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Camp MacLean with associated fees.
