RACINE — “Windows to Heaven,” an exhibition of new works by batik artist Kelly Steitz, will be featured through Feb. 23 at the Racine Arts Council’s Artspace Gallery, 409 Sixth St.
“Windows to Heaven” is a collection of work featuring batik interpretations of the stained glass windows found in the urban churches of Racine. Steitz believes that while many of these windows have been neglected over the years, they still hold a certain beauty and charm.
Steitz is a 1992 graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College with an associate degree in commercial art. Her art has been shown at the Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha and Wustum Museum, and her artwork has been featured on banners for the Downtown Racine Corp. and in Art Scene Today. Steitz conducts batik workshops at Racine Art Museum.
Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and by appointment. Call 262-635-0261 or email the gallery coordinator at ArtSpace@RacineArtsCouncil.org. There is no admission fee.
