RACINE — Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave., will hold auditions for its production of “Design for Murder,” a fast-moving whodunit, at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23-24. The production opens Jan. 15 and runs three weekends through Jan. 31.
“Design for Murder” focuses on Celia Granger, her son David and her efforts to maintain the traditions attached to her family and home, an old mansion on the Hudson River. When a young maid is killed, Granger finds herself living in a violent present. The detective on the case, a rugged, self-made man, is an admirer of Granger and brings a touch of romance to her life. But when the chauffeur who has stumbled upon information linking David and the murdered maid is also brutally murdered, suspicion falls on every member of the cast. The climax finds Granger alone in her home and the murderer ready to strike again.
There are roles available for 10 actors. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin in December. Scripts may be checked out in advance from the box office. For more information, call the box office at 262-633-4218 or go to www.racinetheatre.org.
