Mellencougar

STURTEVANT — Mellencougar will take the stage from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Hiawatha Bar & Grill, 9809 Durand Ave. The cover charge is $5.

Mellencougar is made up of a group of musicians from the Illinois/Wisconsin scene who have an appreciation for the music of Heartland U.S.A. and specifically John Cougar Mellencamp.

The shared experiences described in John’s lyrics bring the audience and band together while singing about youthful lust in songs like “Hurt So Good,” “Ain’t Even Done With The Night” and “I Need A Lover.”

In songs such as “Check It Out,” “Small Town” and “Jack and Diane” you are reminded of what is truly important in life and how to recognize it.

As the fiddle cries and the bass drum hits, patriotic songs like “Rock in the USA,” “Rain on The Scarecrow” and “Pink Houses” drive the audience to dance.

Mellencougar has shared the stage with Eddie Money, Blake Shelton, the Spin Doctors, Styx, Night Ranger, Jamey Johnson and other national acts.

Band members are: Don Wilson, lead vocals; Howard Rudny, lead guitar; Ken Eichmann, bass; Dennis Martin, keys/acoustic; Tim Petersen, drums; Colleen Kuraczek, fiddle/vocals, and Donna Dallas, vocals.

Center Stage appears Thursdays in Out & About. The deadline for submitting information is one week in advance.
