KENOSHA — Tickets are now available for Carthage College’s annual Christmas Festival, “From Heaven Above to Earth You Come.”
The festival will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in A.F. Siebert Chapel on the Carthage campus, 2001 Alford Park Drive.
Themed from a Christmas carol written by Martin Luther in 1534 and featuring the sounds of the majestic Fritsch Memorial Organ in the A. F. Siebert Chapel, the festival follows an age-old tradition of sharing the celebration of the birth of Christ through readings and music. The festival features performances from Carthage Choir, Carthage Women’s Ensemble, Carthage Chorale, Lincoln Chamber Singers, Wind Orchestra and Carthage Philharmonic, as well as theater students. The Christmas Festival will be the culmination of a year-long celebration of the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther’s posting of his 95 Theses.
The program also includes Carthage’s annual Service of Light, when the chapel is filled with candlelight.
The “Saint John’s Bible” exhibition can be viewed in the adjacent H.F. Johnson Gallery of Art for one hour before and after each concert.
As the college’s gift to the community, tickets are free but must be reserved in advance. Go to www.carthage.edu/tickets or call 262-551-5810. Tickets are no longer available for Saturday, Dec. 2.
A holiday buffet is offered for $16 before the Friday and Saturday concerts from 4:30 to 6 p.m. To reserve tickets for the buffet and performance, contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at 262-551-5705 or email email@example.com.
Live-streaming of the event will also be available on the Carthage website, www.carthage.edu.
