BURLINGTON — Garden enthusiasts are invited to view five residential gardens and two community gardens during the Burlington Area Garden Club’s 2017 Walk and Raffle from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 9 (rain or shine).
Take a country drive to discover a uniquely eclectic garden with annuals and perennials intermingled with rustic buildings and rusty objects. Explore the high path or the low path of lush plantings surrounding a picturesque lake home. Stroll down a city street to view three properties with gardens of multi-colored blooms, distinct landscaping, and a hidden infinity waterfall.
Hardscape of boulders, stone benches and raked sand accent a tranquil courtyard. For inspiration and reflection, visit this secret gem of a garden consisting of statues, birdbath and bubbling water feature. Interacting within the gardens will be artists from The Gathering displaying their works.
Advance tickets will be $8 and $10 the day of the walk. Tickets can be purchased in Sturtevant at Milaeger’s and in Burlington at Burlington Garden Center, Richter’s Marketplace, Breezy Hill Nursery and Gooseberries Fresh Food Market, or call co-chair Ruth DeLay at 262-210-3176. The day of the walk tickets will be sold for $10 at the gazebo at Wehmhoff Square, Pine and Washington streets. The event will be held rain or shine.
The raffle this year will include items such as $500 worth of gift cards in $50 increments and garden gift baskets. The drawing will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Wehmhoff Square gazebo (winner need not be present to win).
Proceeds from the Walk will allow the Garden Club to present grants to local service organizations and scholarships to students studying in horticulture-related fields at either the technical college or university level.
