The Rev. Kara Baylor is the guest preacher during the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, March 11, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 40 Ohio St. Baylor is the director of the Center for Faith and Spirituality at Carthage College in Kenosha.


The next Lifelong Learning session titled “Mission in Action Part 2” featuring presentations by Deacon Steve Przedpelski from Franciscan Peacemakers and Heather and Mark Lojeski from Faith, Hope and Love, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 4, at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 1509 Grand Ave.


The Rev. Dale Stohre will be the guest preacher at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 4, at Raymond Community Church UCC, 8217 W. 6 Mile Road, Raymond; and at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, March 4, at Union Grove Congregational Church UCC, 1106 11th Ave., Union Grove.

Stohre retired from 40 years of pastoral ministry and is now an active member of Emanuel UCC in Hales Corners. His sermon “Housecleaning” is based on the scripture reading from John 2: 13-22.


Lenten services will be held at these locations Wednesday, March 7:

Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3350 LaSalle St., 6 p.m. The Rev. Jesse Gullion will deliver the sermon.

Epiphany Lutheran Church, 2921 Olive St., 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. Guest speaker is the Rev. Thomas Bauer. Continuing the Lenten theme of “Return from Exile: A Lenten Journey,” Bauer will speak on “Out of Egypt Through the Water.”

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 728 Villa St., 7 p.m. Under the theme for Lent, “Return from Exile: A Lenten Journey,” the Rev. John Roekle will preach focusing on the theme for the night — “Tree to Tree: The Tree of Life to the Cross.”

Grace Lutheran Church, 3700 Washington Ave., 6:30 p.m. The Lenten theme is “Return from Exile” with the focus for the evening being “Out of Egypt: Through the Water” in Exodus 14:13-31; Mark 1:9-13.

Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. Sixth St., 7-8 p.m. All are welcome at the soup supper before the service in the Mark Hurn room on the lower level of the parish house at 6 p.m. An offering will be accepted to benefit the youth who will be attending the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston this summer.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4340 6 Mile Road, Caledonia, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Racine/Kenosha Minsters Alliance Lenten Service at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 1529 N. Wisconsin St., 7 p.m. Guest speaker is the Rev. Monroe Mitchell.
