RETREAT AT DEKOVEN CENTER
The Rev. Heidi Haverkamp, author of "Advent in Narnia: Reflections for the Season," will lead an Advent retreat based on the S.C. Lewis novel "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Haverkamp serves St. Benedict Church in Bolingbrook, Ill., and is a Benedictine oblate of Holy Wisdom Monastery in Middleton.

GUEST SPEAKER AT TRINITY UNITED
The Rev. Richard Fitzgerald, an elder in the Great Plains Annual Conference, will speak at the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sunday, Nov. 12, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3825 Erie St. His sermon is based on the Gospel Lesson, Matthew 25: 1-13. The Chancel Choir Anthem, under the direction of Tony Roland, will be “We Bring Our Thanks” by J.P. Williams and Ruth E. Shram. The Rev. Susan Barham will conduct the worship service.
GUEST SPEAKER AT FAITH UNITED
The Rev. Richard Fitzgerald, an Elder in the Great Plains Annual Conference, will preach during the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Nov. 12, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1013 Harmony Drive. Fitzgerald's sermon will be based on Matthew 15: 1-13. The Rev. Susan Barham will conduct the worship service.
Church congregants will honor former veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces. Jack Duchac, a U.S. Navy veteran, will speak during the service.
ALL SAINTS DAY OBSERVED
Family members and friends of those who have died in the past year will be remembered with prayers and the lighting of candles as All Saints Day is observed during the 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services Sunday, Nov. 12, at Christ Church, 5109 Washington Ave.
SIENA RETREAT CENTER PROGRAMS
These programs are being offered at the Siena Retreat Center, 5637 Erie St., Caledonia.
- “Act Justly, Walk Humbly,” an evening with John Neafsey, 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. According to the prophet Micah, the only thing that really matters is that we become just, loving and humble persons. This is our fundamental human vocation. Neafsey will do some short readings from his book and share his thoughts on the call to justice, love and humility. Cost to attend is $15.
- “Personal Calling and Social Conscience: A Day of Reflection with John Neafsey,” 9:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. This day will explore the balance between contemplative, inward listening for our personal calling and transforming that call into action in our world. Cost to attend is $55 including $10 non-refundable deposit and noon meal.
