RACINE — Merry Zoomas will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Racine Zoo, 2131 N. Main St. Last paid admission is at 3:30 p.m.
Guests will be given an activity map to locate three jingle bell knock knock doors throughout the zoo and gather goodies. Activities will include animal encounters, cookie decorating, hot cocoa, crafts and holiday photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children can bring a letter for Santa.
Activities are included with zoo admission of $5, free ages 2 and younger.
Brunch with Santa will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for ages 13 and older and $15 for ages 3-12, and includes zoo admission. There is no charge for ages 2 and younger. Advance registration is required by going to www.racinezoo.org.
Visitors are invited to be a art of the annual Kiwanis Holiday Lighting event at 5 p.m. The Racine Zoo has been the location of the Kiwanis Holiday Lights Foundation for many years. One display is a waterfall that consists of seven sections and when pieced together, becomes a 22-foot by 28-foot display. The movement of the waterfall is created with 3,000 feet of rope lights, totaling 33,000 individual LED bulbs. There will also be a steamboat, animals, trees, toys and Santa and his sleigh. Visitors can enjoy hot cocoa and cookies while enjoying the musical sounds of Christmas carols.
The Racine Zoo receives 100 percent of the funds raised from each event, which helps cover the costs of species survival programs, education programs, conservation efforts and veterinary fees.
