YORKVILLE — Apple Holler Family Farm held its 13th annual Orchard Walk & Fundraiser to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Aug. 26. The event raised $10,715 and will go directly to research to improve the lives of people affected by multiple sclerosis.
More than 300 people of all ages took part in a 1-mile walk through the orchard. A tractor-drawn hayride was available for those who preferred not to walk. The event included a free T-shirt, apple pancake breakfast, the opportunity to pick a bag of Paula Red apples and a chance to win a wide range of raffle prizes.
Since its inception in 2004, the Apple Holler MS walk has raised more than $100,000. For the owners of the orchard, the fight against MS is personal. The Flannery’s have had three family members affected by the disease. MS attacks the central nervous system by interfering with the nerve signals between the brain and the body. There is no known cure.
The 14th annual MS walk will be Aug. 25, 2018.
