RACINE—Anne R. (nee: Knotek) Oertel, age 101, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017, in her home.
Anne was born in Racine, Wisconsin, on July 24, 1916, one of twelve children born to Cyril and Josephine (Nee: Mostek) Knotek.
On June 25, 1949, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Richard W. Oertel. He preceded her in death, September 10, 1996.
Anne graduated from St. John’s grammar school in Racine and attended St. Catherine’s High School for two years. She was employed by Saint Mary’s Hospital, Western Publishing and Siena Center as a nursing assistant. She was a lifelong and active member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. She devoted her life to her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her children, Christine Rogers of Fort Atkinson, Corinne Kaufman of Racine, Richard (Jacqueline) Oertel of Plattsburgh, NY, Robert (Debra Johnson) Oertel of Weston, Lisa Marie (Ronald) Imre of Titusville, FL, Mary (Lee) Breger of Waukesha: 12 grandchildren, Laura, Eric, and Scott Rogers, Andy (Ginger) and Chris Kaufman, Josh, Lindsay, and Michael Oertel, Leanna (Scott Gerstl) and Daniel Oertel, and Megan and Katie Breger; two great grandchildren, Micaela and Gavin Wilcox; brothers, Frank (Audrey) Knotek of Racine, Charles (Marcy) Knotek of Racine, Jerry (Rita) Knotek of Racine; sisters, Sr. Rose Knotek of Milwaukee, Sr. Julie Knotek of Milwaukee, Georgia Theys of Greendale; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael; brothers, Rev. John Knotek, Rev. Wenceslaus Knotek and Albert Knotek and sisters, Mary Konicek, and Sr. Helen Knotek.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Steven Varghese officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, St. Catherine’s High School, or to Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care has been suggested.
