Mrs. Beulah Skewes of 927 67th Drive, Union Grove, will celebrate her 90th birthday Sunday, April 15, during an open house in her honor at 17645 Old Yorkville Road, Union Grove. Cake and beverages will be served from 2 to 4 p.m. The building is handicapped accessible and has an elevator.

The former Beulah Hauerwas was born on April 13, 1928, in Oak Creek. She moved to Racine in 1946.

She married Edgar H. Skewes on June 4, 1949, in Methodist Church in Oak Creek. He died in February of 2011.

Mrs. Skewes was a teacher at Apple School and Union Grove Elementary School. She taught for 45 years, retiring in June of 1994.

Mrs. Skewes enjoys bowling and is a member of the Waterford Card Club.

She is former president of the Union Grove Business and Professional Women organization, and is a current member of the National and Wisconsin Education Association and Racine County Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Skewes is a member of and volunteers at Union Grove United Methodist Church, as well as the Union Grove Food Bank.

She has two children: Linton (Diane) and Jeff of Union Grove. She has two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
