Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hubbard

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hubbard of 2405 Coolidge Ave. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 25 during a family brunch in their honor at Reefpoint Brew House.

Hubbard and the former Lois Davis were married on March 22, 1958, in Garden City, S.D. The couple has lived in Racine for 58 years.

They met at a dance in Clark, S.D., in 1956. The couple went to a dance and then out for dinner on their first date.

Hubbard, 83, served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957.

He was a machinist at Twin Disc Inc., retiring in 1998.

Hubbard’s hobbies include reading and yardwork.

Mrs. Hubbard, 79, was a daycare teacher for several years, retiring to stay home and take care of her grandchildren. She enjoys journaling, scrapbooking and reading.

The couple said that true love for each other and their faith in God is what has kept them together all these years.

They said their happiest moments together was the birth of their children, traveling together and watching their family grow.

The Hubbards enjoy spending time with family and are active members of Community Church of the Nazarene.

They have four children: Douglas (Krystal) of Racine; Sherri (John) Scharping of Caledonia; Shelly (Gregg) Peters of Caledonia, and the late Michael Hubbard. The couple has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Their advice to young people getting married today: “Stay true to your commitment to each other and always talk it out.”
