Maritha Maj Lyden and Daniel Roy Miller were united in marriage April 1 by the Rev. John Rosensteel. The 2:30 p.m. ceremony was in Blackhawk Church in Madison. Ann Kuehlman read “A Strand of Three Cords” while the bride and groom braided two white cords and one red cord as a symbol of their life together. Amy Schiefelbein sang “A Page is Turned” and “I Will Be Here.”
Parents of the bride are Philip and Sandy Lyden of Racine. The bride is the granddaughter of Loretta Twila Hopfenspirger of Sun City, Ariz.; the late Robert Hopfenspirger; and the late Gustaf and Eleanor Lyden.
The groom’s parents are Donald and Mary Ellen Miller of Mount Horeb. The groom is the grandson of the late Rose Lenox; the late Frank Miller; and the late Gary and Eleanor Bluemink.
Maid of honor was Brooke Schmeichel. Matron of honor was Rachel Zilli. Bridesmaids were Lori Wagoner, Mirsa Sullivan (bride’s sister), Tasha Moxley (bride’s sister), Tiffany Lyden (bride’s sister) and Julie Gillen (groom’s sister). Flower girls were Allison Sullivan (bride’s niece) and Mackenzie Gillen (groom’s niece). The bride’s personal attendant was Ann Kuehlman.
Best man was Martin Aalsma, friend of groom. Groomsmen were Jeff Stempnewski, Leo Cross, Dan Hulbert, Dan Simonson, Brian Freidl and Mark Gillen (groom’s brother-in-law).
Beverly McDonough (bride’s aunt) and Karla Karapetian (bride’s cousin) were the greeters. Mark Baumeister, Dave Pranga and Robb Nelson (bride’s cousin) were the ushers. Benjamin Moxley and Peter Moxley (bride’s nephews) and Margaret Moxley (bride’s niece) distributed bubbles to wedding guests.
Brooke Schmeichel, Rachel Zilli and the bride made the attendants’ jewelry.
The reception was held at the East Side Businessmen’s Association. The couple honeymooned at Lake Tahoe, Nev.
The Millers are living in Madison. Maritha, 27, is an emergency room registered nurse at Stoughton Hospital. Daniel, 31, is a computer programmer/analyst at Great Lakes Higher Education Corp.
