Burlington Genealogical Society Meeting and Workshop
Citing Sources; A Workshop to save you work
November 20, 2013 7-9 pm
The public is invited to a free workshop, called “Citing Sources” given by Dave Nelson, experienced genealogist.
The three basic rules for writing and for genealogy are “cite your sources; cite your sources; cite your sources,” he said. All beginner and advanced researchers have had the experience of forgetting the rule, as steps are inadvertently retraced and duplicated.
Citing sources appropriately can avoid these problems. This workshop isn't a boring lecture-type evening, but rather has hands-on activities and maybe even prizes.
Participants enjoy learning about the practical ideas while sharpening their research and writing skills.
Nelson is a past president of the Burlington Genealogy Society and has been attending many regional workshops, adding to his research skills.
Participants are encouraged to bring their laptop or tablet, as free WIFI access is available.
The free session will be held at the Gateway Technical College, 496 McCanna Parkway, Burlington, Wisconsin; at the end of the Parkway.
Parking is free and the building is handicap accessible. Contact Bonnie Bolster for more information about the non-profit, Burlington Genealogical Society: 262-634-8815
