RACINE - Come find toys for your pets that they can play with by themselves at a new West Racine pet boutique.
They're puzzle toys, where dogs or cats can try to figure out how to get treats out.
It's at Raining Cats & Dogs, 3222 Washington Ave., which opened two weeks ago, said owner Nancy Simonson.
Or for people who like to walk their dogs at night, they can find leashes, collars or balls that light up at night.
Simonson relocated her store of three and a half years from Lake Geneva to Racine late October because there was more need in the area, she said.
The 1,300 square foot store has "pretty much everything" for dogs and cats from treats to toys, Simonson said, and will be offering grooming on-site in a couple of weeks. The store does not sell pets.
Simonson said she would do the grooming herself, having been certified this summer.
She hopes to open a boarding kennel in the future, which would offer daycare and training as well.
"I've been wanting to build a kennel for a few years," Simonson said.
The response has been good so far, she said, with a lot of walk-in traffic from people walking their dogs in the neighborhood.
"Well-behaved" pets are welcome in the store, Simonson said.
